The move to Agent Venom has one drawback. Every 48 hours, Flash had to detach from the symbiote, so the two could never end up being bound to Eddie Brock the way it was. These scientists were insane, though, to believe that they could manipulate Venom. Although much of the symbiote has been eliminated, part of Venom has still existed in Flash.
